A Bangladeshi family of three is set to make a rare appearance on the international endurance-sports stage, with a father, mother and son preparing to represent Bangladesh at two major events in Malaysia and Thailand.

Mohammad Hasan Mahmud, his wife Mahfuza Haque and their son Tafsir Jinan Mahmud will take part in POWERMAN Malaysia 2026 and Pattaya Marathon 2026, continuing their shared passion for running, cycling and fitness.

The three family members regularly engage in physical exercise, running and cycling. Their decision to compete internationally together grew from their shared interest in sports and an active lifestyle.

Mohammad Hasan Mahmud is a senior professional in the telecommunications sector, while his wife, Mahfuza Haque, holds a senior human resources management position in the corporate sector. Their son, Tafsir Jinan Mahmud, is currently a second-semester BBA student.

At POWERMAN Malaysia 2026, scheduled to be held in Putrajaya, Mohammad Hasan Mahmud will compete in the Classic Distance category. He will complete a 10km run, 60km cycling segment and another 10km run — an 80km endurance challenge in total.

Mahfuza Haque and Tafsir Jinan Mahmud will compete in the Short Distance category, comprising a 5km run, 30km cycling segment and another 5km run, covering 40km in total.

Following the Malaysian event, the family will travel to Thailand to participate in the Pattaya Marathon 2026 on September 27.

Mohammad Hasan Mahmud will compete in the full marathon, covering 42.195km, while Mahfuza Haque and Tafsir Jinan Mahmud will take part in the 21.1km half marathon.

The family previously participated together in the Bangkok Marathon in 2023. They also regularly take part in various running and cycling events in Bangladesh.

According to the family, training and competing together not only help them maintain fitness but also strengthen their bond. They believe that leading a healthy and active lifestyle should not be viewed merely as an individual choice but as an important part of family culture.

By taking part in two international competitions in succession, the family hopes to inspire other families to embrace sports, exercise and healthier lifestyles.
