Bangladesh were bowled out for 160 in 41.2 overs against Afghanistan in a crucial match of the ODI tri-nation series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday.
The Tigers struggled with the bat, losing wickets at regular intervals despite efforts from Saif Hassan and Parvez Hossain Emon.
The rest of the batting lineup failed to make substantial contributions as Afghanistan’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings.
Saif Hassan scored 41 runs off 82 balls, while Parvez Hossain Emon top-scored with 70 off 96 balls, including five fours and two sixes.
Their contributions were not enough to prevent Bangladesh from being dismissed for a modest total.
Afghanistan’s experienced leg-spinner Rashid Khan led the bowling attack, taking four wickets for 31 runs in 8.2 overs.
Yamin Ahmadzai also made an important contribution with two wickets.
Bangladesh had opted to bat first after winning the toss.
The match is crucial to their hopes of reaching the final of the tri-nation series, following a 99-run defeat to Zimbabwe in their opening game. Afghanistan had previously beaten Zimbabwe by 158 runs.
Afghanistan need 161 runs to win the match.
