Tech enthusiasts are turning their attention to Apple as the much-anticipated “Apple Event 2026” is set to take place on Wednesday, with the tech giant expected to unveil several new products.
The event, titled “Surprise and Shine,” will begin at 11pm Bangladesh time. Alongside the new iPhone lineup, Apple is expected to reveal several other products and updates.
This year’s event is particularly significant as it marks the first major product launch under new CEO John Ternus following Tim Cook’s departure from the chief executive position. Cook stepped down as CEO earlier this month and assumed the role of executive chairman, with Ternus succeeding him.
Foldable iPhone Could Be the Biggest Surprise
The biggest buzz surrounding the event is Apple’s first foldable iPhone. Although rumours about a foldable iPhone have circulated for years, speculation has intensified that the company could finally unveil the device this time.
According to technology analysts, the phone could fold like a book, functioning as a conventional smartphone when closed and offering a larger display when unfolded. Some reports have compared its possible design to a passport.
The device could reportedly be called the “iPhone Ultra” and is expected to carry a significantly higher price tag than existing iPhone models. Reuters has reported that the price could exceed $2,500.
iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max Expected
Apple is also expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, with reports suggesting upgrades to their cameras, batteries and designs.
Rumoured changes include cameras with variable aperture, a smaller Dynamic Island and larger batteries.
The standard iPhone 18, however, may not be unveiled at Wednesday’s event. Several reports suggest Apple could launch the regular model in the spring of next year.
New Apple Watches May Also Debut
Alongside the iPhone, Apple is expected to introduce new Apple Watch models, potentially including the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.
The new watches could feature improvements in health monitoring, battery life and design, along with additional features.
New AirPods Also Possible
Apple could also unveil new AirPods featuring an upgraded chip and some health-monitoring capabilities.
However, major changes such as cameras built into the AirPods are unlikely to be introduced this year. Such a product could arrive in 2027, according to various reports.
Ternus Faces First Major Test
The event is also significant because of Apple’s leadership transition. After Cook’s long tenure at the helm, Ternus is now leading the company as CEO.
Ternus, who spent years overseeing Apple’s hardware engineering division, will lead his first major product launch event as chief executive. In addition to the new products, the technology industry will be watching for indications of the direction Apple intends to take under his leadership.
