Bangladesh Television’s popular magazine programme ‘Ityadi’ has recorded a new episode in Jamalpur, a border district known for its traditional Nakshi Kantha embroidery and scenic landscapes.
The main stage was set up at an open venue at Lauchapra Recreation Centre in Bakshiganj upazila, at the foothills of the Garo Hills. Surrounded by lush greenery, hills and a scenic lake, the stage was designed to blend with the natural surroundings.
The episode features two songs of different genres. Popular singers Pantha Kanai and Tosiba Begum, who made their television debut through ‘Ityadi’, lent their voices to one of the songs. Suman Kalyan composed and arranged the song, with lyrics by Liton Adhikari Rintu.
As usual, the episode also includes a song-and-dance segment introducing Jamalpur. Local singers Mizan Mahmud Rajib and Sinthi Saha performed the song, with lyrics by Moniruzzaman Palash and music composed and arranged by Ujjal Sinha. Local Bengali and Garo dance performances, choreographed by SK Zahid, added colour to the presentation.
Thousands of spectators attended the recording and enjoyed the performances with applause and enthusiasm.
The programme’s regular audience segment featured a quiz based on Jamalpur, from which four spectators were selected. In the second part, they performed excerpts from four memorable songs by four celebrated cultural figures from the district.
The episode also features several informative and human-interest reports, including special segments on Nakshi Kantha, a symbol of Jamalpur’s economy and culture, and the traditional dish ‘Milli’ or ‘Pithali’. Reports also highlight the district’s history, heritage and archaeological sites, as well as the historic Tulsipur horse market, one of the country’s oldest and largest horse markets.
Human-interest stories focus on families displaced by river erosion and those affected by child marriage due to poverty. The programme also pays tribute to four renowned personalities born in Jamalpur.
Another inspiring report tells the story of Ferdous Hasan Bappi and Osnai Khatun, a couple who overcame physical disabilities through hard work and became self-reliant.
The foreign segment features China’s picturesque Suzhou, highlighting the blend of ancient heritage and modern technology.
The episode will also include a lively conversation between Kashem TV’s reporter and his grandson, the regular ‘Letters’ segment and several satirical dramas addressing social problems and contemporary issues. Leading Bangladeshi actors feature in the sketches.
As in previous episodes, Hanif Sanket has written, directed and presented the programme.
