DHAKA: The Local Government Division has ordered the suspension of all tendering and procurement processes related to works, services and the supply of goods. The directive will remain in force until rules are formulated under the amended public procurement ordinance and a new rate schedule is published.

The directive was issued on Thursday by the Administration-1 section of the Local Government Division. A letter signed by Senior Assistant Secretary A B M Ariful Islam was sent to the relevant officials of all city corporations, municipalities, district councils and upazila parishads across the country.

According to the letter, all tendering and procurement processes related to works, services and the supply of goods must remain suspended until the formulation of rules under the Public Procurement (Amendment) Ordinance 2026 is completed and a new rate schedule is published. It also directed the authorities concerned to take the necessary measures to keep the processes suspended until further notice.

The directive was sent to the chief executive officers of all city corporations, municipal administrators, chief executive officers of district councils and administrators of upazila parishads.
