DHAKA: Rain and thunderstorms are likely in four divisions of Bangladesh, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Some places in Rangpur, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, as well as one or two places in Dhaka, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions, may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds.
Elsewhere, the weather may remain mainly dry, with temporarily partly cloudy skies. Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
The Meteorological Department issued the forecast in a bulletin on Saturday (October 3).
According to the bulletin, the axis of the monsoon’s extended trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal and southern Bangladesh to Assam. The monsoon is currently less active over Bangladesh and remains weak to moderate over the north Bay of Bengal.
The department said Sreemangal recorded the country’s highest rainfall of 51mm in the past 24 hours. The highest temperature during the period was 35.4°C, recorded in Tangail and Jashore.
Meanwhile, relative humidity in Dhaka was 73% on Saturday evening. Winds were blowing from the south and southeast at 8–12 kmph.
The sun is expected to set in Dhaka at 5:44pm on Saturday and rise at 5:51am on Sunday.
