The Parkchester Chapter of the Muslim Ummah of North America (MUNA) organised a vibrant family gathering in New York, bringing together its central and local leaders, members and their families for a day of discussion, fellowship, sports and entertainment.
The day-long programme was held on Sunday afternoon at the Croton Point Park Pavilion, with MUNA Parkchester chapter President Shahjalal Chowdhury in the chair. Chapter Secretary Rezaul Karim moderated the event.
Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer, vice-president of the Bangladesh Lawyers Council, attended the programme as the chief guest. MUNA Assistant Executive Director Hafiz Abdullah Al Arif, Assistant Education Director Rasheduzzaman and New York North Zone Secretary Nurus Samad Chowdhury were present as special guests. Fahim Mia, president of the Youth Chapter, recited verses from the Holy Quran.
In his address, Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer said such gatherings help strengthen bonds of brotherhood, friendship and mutual affection amid the busy lives of expatriate communities.
“MUNA is not merely an organisation; it is a platform built on mutual support, humanitarian values and Islamic brotherhood,” he said.
He stressed the importance of contributing to society and humanity from wherever people live. He also called for greater efforts to engage the younger generation with their values, culture and moral education.

Central and local MUNA leaders also addressed the gathering, emphasising the need to further strengthen the organisation’s activities and deepen bonds of friendship, brotherhood and mutual understanding among its members.
The formal programme was followed by various sports and recreational activities involving members and their families. The enthusiastic participation of children, teenagers and people of different age groups turned the event into a festive occasion.
The gathering concluded with members and their families spending time together, exchanging views and strengthening their bonds of friendship and fellowship.
