Security at the International Crimes Tribunal has been strengthened based on “secret information” suggesting a possible act of sabotage, Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Aminul Islam said.

He disclosed the information at a briefing at his office on Thursday.

“Our tribunal’s security has been increased compared to before. We have received some secret information suggesting that there could be an attempt to carry out sabotage here when trials against influential accused persons are nearing completion or verdicts are pending,” Aminul said.

He said law enforcement agencies responsible for the tribunal’s security had been instructed to strengthen security measures.

“You are seeing these measures being implemented accordingly,” the chief prosecutor added.
