Storm alert across 19 regions

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department issued on July 14  a special weather advisory for 19 regions, forecasting gusty winds up to 60 km/h and thundershowers from early morning until afternoon.

Affected river ports were advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1, urging all vessels to navigate with extreme caution.

The Gathering StormThe morning of July 14 brought a dramatic shift to the skies across Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued an urgent alert, warning that a sudden rush of wind from the south and southeast was beginning to sweep across 19 critical regions.

Cities and towns from Rangpur and Dinajpur in the north to the coastal stretches of Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram found themselves enveloped in dark, heavy monsoon clouds.

Meteorologist A.K.M. Najmul  Haque detailed that gusty winds, reaching speeds of 45 to 60 km/h, could strike abruptly, accompanied by relentless rain or sudden, sharp bursts of thundershowers.
