The government has allocated flats to families of military personnel who were killed or seriously injured during the 2009 BDR mutiny, UN peacekeeping missions and various operational and non-operational incidents.
Allocation letters for the flats, located in the newly constructed ‘Aparajita’ residential complex in Mirpur DOHS, were handed over to the families at a ceremony held at the Defence Ministry on Tuesday (Sept 22).
Defence Ministry Secretary Md Ashraf Uddin handed over the allocation letters to the family members, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A total of 70 families of personnel who were killed or seriously injured in the BDR mutiny, UN peacekeeping missions and other operational and non-operational circumstances received allocation letters at the event.
Under government approval and the supervision of the DOHS Central Committee, 156 flats have been constructed in two buildings at Mirpur DOHS.
Officials from the Defence Ministry, the Directorate of Military Lands and Cantonments, Army Headquarters and Sena Kalyan Constructions and Developments Limited (SKCD), along with the beneficiaries, attended the ceremony.
The event paid tribute to military personnel who sacrificed their lives or suffered serious injuries while serving during the BDR mutiny, UN peacekeeping missions and various operational and non-operational duties.
Prayers were offered for the eternal peace of the fallen personnel, while condolences were extended to their bereaved families.
