Bangladeshi expatriates sent home US$2.455 billion in remittances during the first 26 days of August, according to the latest data from Bangladesh Bank.
Remittance inflows between August 1 and 26 were 22.3 percent higher than the $2.007 billion received during the same period a year earlier.
The country received another $115 million in remittances over August 25 and 26, according to the central bank data.
Cumulative remittance earnings from July 1 to August 26, the first 57 days of the 2026-27 fiscal year, reached $5.314 billion, up 18.5 percent from $4.485 billion recorded during the corresponding period of FY2025-26.
The latest figures indicate continued strong growth in remittance inflows through formal banking channels, providing further support to the country’s foreign-exchange reserves and external account.
