Two explosions were heard in Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, on Tuesday, October 20, after authorities issued a warning about a potential threat, Agence France-Presse (AFP) journalists reported.
The Saudi Civil Defence said in a statement on social media platform X that an alert had been sent through the national early warning platform to warn residents of a potential danger in Riyadh.
Meanwhile, Turki Al-Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition supporting Yemen’s internationally recognised government, said Saudi forces had intercepted a ballistic missile heading towards Riyadh.
In a post on X, he said Saudi Arabia had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards Riyadh by Yemen’s Houthi militia.
It was not immediately clear whether the explosions caused any casualties or damage.
