Dhaka: A housewife was shot at her home in Darus Salam area of Mirpur, Dhaka, early Sunday morning. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested three people, including the woman’s husband, Abdul Mannan, in connection with the incident.
The victim, identified as Jesmin Akter, was watching television with a window of her home left open when she was reportedly shot through the window at around 5:00am. She sustained a gunshot wound to her right hand and was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The incident took place at a tin-shed house owned by Aminul Doctor in the Matbor Bari Mosque Lane area under Darus Salam police station.
According to police and local sources, unidentified assailants fled the scene after shooting Jesmin through the open window. However, a law enforcement source claimed that her husband, Abdul Mannan, who is allegedly involved in drug dealing, shot his wife from outside the window in an attempt to frame someone else.
RAB recovered a pistol and two rounds of ammunition from the scene. The identities of the other two people arrested have not yet been disclosed.
