Kuwait police have arrested a Bangladeshi national for allegedly killing a security guard at an under-construction building in Al Mutlaa. He was arrested less than 24 hours after the body was discovered.

The Times Kuwait reported the incident on Saturday, but did not disclose the identities of the victim or the suspect.

According to the report, authorities were informed on Friday morning that the body of a security guard had been found on the roof of an under-construction building in Al Mutlaa.

Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers visited the scene, collected evidence and launched an investigation.

Investigators from the Jahra Criminal Investigation Department, working with the Public Security Sector, identified a former security guard at the building as a suspect. He had been dismissed a day before the incident and replaced the victim.

The report said the suspect had surrendered at Shuwaikh Police Station after his residency permit expired and an arrest warrant was issued against him. Kuwait’s Interior Ministry said he might have surrendered intending to be deported before his alleged involvement in the murder came to light.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the killing, citing a dispute with the victim after the latter replaced him at the workplace.

He allegedly attacked the victim with a wooden object and a knife, killing him.

Legal procedures are under way to refer the suspect to the relevant authorities.
