BD Stock Market begins on positive note on Sept 16

Dhaka: Trading on Bangladesh’s two stock exchanges began on a positive note on Wednesday (September 16), the fourth trading day of the week, with key indices rising. The information was reported by the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE).

At 11:30am, one and a half hours after trading began, the DSE’s benchmark DSEX index had gained 18.89 points from the previous day to stand at 5,490.71.

The DSE Shariah Index rose by 6 points to 1,099, while the DSE-30 Index fell by 3 points to 2,089.

During this period, shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 201.1 crore were traded.

Of the companies traded by 11:30am, prices rose for 220 companies, fell for 91 and remained unchanged for 74.

The top 10 companies in terms of trading activity were Orion Infusion, Sharq Industries, Saiham Textile, Saiham Cotton, Envoy Textiles, Al-Haj Textile, Paramount Textile, Mercantile Islami Insurance, Summit Port and Far Chemical.

Earlier, the DSEX index gained 8 points within the first five minutes of trading.

At 10:10am, the index rose another 3 points from its previous level. The upward trend continued, and 20 minutes after trading began, at 10:20am, the DSEX had gained 17 points from the previous day to reach 5,489.

Meanwhile, the CSE’s CASPI index rose 10 points to 14,6012 at 11:30am. The index also continued to show an upward trend.

By 11:30am, shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 5.05 crore had been traded on the CSE.
