Candidates who received final recommendations under the Government Primary School Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2025 launched an indefinite sit-in in Dhaka on Sunday, demanding immediate joining and school postings in line with the Recruitment Rules-2025.

The protesters gathered in front of the Dhaka University Central Library in the morning and attempted to march towards Shahbagh.

Police stopped them, after which they began their sit-in in front of Shahbagh Police Station and the National Museum, chanting slogans and carrying banners and placards.

Participants said recommended candidates from districts across the country had joined the programme, calling for prompt appointment and posting in accordance with the recruitment rules.

One of the banners read: “Indefinite sit-in demanding joining and school postings for finally recommended teachers under the Recruitment Rules-2025.”

Meanwhile, the government announced a major development in the recruitment process.

In a notification issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education said that candidates finally selected under the Assistant Teacher Recruitment-2025 will officially join their respective district primary education offices on October 1.

The ministry said appointment letters will be issued in due course, after which the newly recruited teachers will be posted to schools and later sent for professional training.
