Qatar to support Bangladesh in ensuring energy security

Qatar has assured Bangladesh of its support in strengthening the country’s energy security and ensuring a stable supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The assurance comes amid concerns over disruptions to LNG supplies from Qatar and other Middle Eastern sources.

Bangladesh has been exploring alternative suppliers and short-term contracts to reduce its dependence on a limited number of sources.

Qatar remains an important LNG supplier to Bangladesh, and Dhaka is seeking greater cooperation with Doha to ensure uninterrupted energy supplies.

Bangladesh is also working to diversify its LNG supply sources by exploring markets in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Africa and Oceania. Countries under consideration include Australia, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Angola, Nigeria and Algeria.
