Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh’s remarkable journey from cricketing glory to his battle against cancer is set to come to the big screen, with his biopic potentially going into production in 2027.

According to Indian media reports, Yuvraj recently spoke about the project at an event, indicating that filming could begin next year if everything goes according to plan.

The biopic was first announced in 2024, sparking excitement among his fans. However, the actor who will portray Yuvraj has yet to be announced.

Yuvraj’s cricketing career is remembered for several historic achievements. During the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup, he famously smashed six sixes in an over off England’s Stuart Broad, reaching his half-century in just 12 balls.

He was also instrumental in India’s triumph at the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup, scoring 362 runs and taking 15 wickets. His outstanding all-round performance earned him the Player of the Tournament award.

However, shortly after the World Cup triumph, Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer. He underwent extensive treatment and chemotherapy in the United States before recovering and returning to international cricket.

Recalling that difficult period recently, Yuvraj said his biggest fear was not cancer itself but the possibility of never playing cricket again. He was worried that people would assume his career was over once news of his illness became public.

With strong family support and determination, he eventually overcame the challenge and returned to the field.

Even after retiring from cricket, Yuvraj has remained connected to the sport by mentoring young players. He is also involved in cancer awareness and support initiatives through his organisation, YouWeCan, which works to help cancer patients.

Meanwhile, a biopic on another former India captain, Sourav Ganguly, is also in the works, with Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao set to portray him.

Fans are now eagerly awaiting Yuvraj’s story on the big screen, which is expected to capture his six-sixes feat, World Cup glory and inspiring battle against cancer. Further details about the cast and release date are yet to be announced.
