Fatima Tasnim Juma, founding member and current vice-president of the Inqilab Cultural Centre, has announced her departure from the organisation, following a similar decision by founding executive director and current chairman Abdullah Al Jaber.
In separate Facebook posts on Wednesday, both said the organisation would be handed over to the heirs of martyred Osman Hadi, citing their claim and supporting legal documents.
Juma said she had joined the organisation to promote pro-Bangladesh cultural activities but became concerned as it increasingly moved into politics.
She added that the inheritance dispute and subsequent public controversy had caused her significant mental distress.
Jaber said Osman Hadi had planned to establish a trust for the organisation before his death but was unable to complete the process.
He added that efforts over the past six months to resolve the inheritance issue had failed, prompting the decision to transfer the organisation to the claimants.
Both Jaber and Juma said financial accounts under their respective tenures would be made public, while accounts from before Osman Hadi’s death remain frozen.
