One killed as bus overturns in Sitakunda

Chattogram: One person was killed and six others were injured after a passenger bus lost control and overturned in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 9:00 a.m. in the Chhoto Kumira Banshbaria area of the upazila.

The deceased is believed to be around 30 years old, but his identity could not be confirmed immediately.

The injured have been identified as Rowshan Akter (38), Mohiuddin (33), Mohammad Mannan (30), Sonia Akter (25), Arpita Saha (20), and Arif Md. Yusuf (51).

They were rescued and admitted to Chattogram Medical College (CMCH) Hospital for treatment.

Md. Ashek, Sub-Inspector and in-charge of the police outpost at Chattogram Medical College Hospital, said that a Jonaki Paribahan passenger bus bound for Noakhali lost control and overturned on the road in Sitakunda. Following the accident, local residents and members of the Kumira Fire Service rescued the injured and rushed them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.
