The Greater Dhaka Journalists Forum has elected a new executive committee (EC), with Nuruddin Ahmed of NTV chosen as president and Mohammad Momin Hossain of RTV as general secretary.
The election was held on Saturday morning following the organization’s biennial general meeting at the National Press Club. Acting Chief Election Commissioner Syed Ali Asfar announced the final results.
The newly elected committee also includes ABM Rafiqur Rahman and SM Monirul Islam as vice-presidents, Anjan Rahman as joint secretary, Shirin Sultana as treasurer, Nurunnabi Rabi as welfare secretary, Suman Islam as cultural and publications secretary, and Atikul Islam as office secretary.
The executive committee members are Bulbul Ahmed, Rashedul Haque, Galman Shafi, Delwar Hossain Badal, Kushar Yasir and Lutfar Rahman Sikder.
A seven-member advisory council was also formed at the general meeting. Its members are Kartik Chatterjee, Farid Hossain, Shaheen Chowdhury, Hasan Hafiz, Morsalin Babla, Shahabuddin Sikder and Mahbub Alam.
Earlier, the biennial general meeting was presided over by outgoing president Farid Hossain. Members observed a moment of remembrance for four forum members who died over the past three years—Abdul Wase Ansari Babu, Shehab Uddin Nafa, Saidur Rahman Rimon and Fazlun Nazima Khanam.
Several members, including Shaheen Chowdhury, Morsalin Babla, Kartik Chatterjee, Rafiqul Rahman, Monirul Islam, Shanta Maria, Anjan Rahman, Bulbul Ahmed, Syed Nurul Huda Rono, Mirza Amin Ahmed Ian and Dewan Masuda Sultana, addressed the meeting.
