Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) online news portal, DMP News, displayed politically charged messages and images of violence after its website appeared to have been compromised late on Saturday night.

Visitors to the website on October 31 found its regular news content replaced by images showing police and scenes of violence, alongside a political message reading: “Police, no matter how much you beat us, can you forget August 5?”

Background music was also reportedly played when users accessed the website.

Following the incident, the DMP News website became inaccessible, raising suspicions of a possible cyberattack.

DMP News is the official online news portal of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police. It publishes updates on the police force’s activities, crime-related developments and public awareness initiatives.

However, it remains unclear whether the website was actually hacked, as no official confirmation was available.

Several officials from the DMP’s media division were contacted by phone and text messages for comment, but no response was received.
