Italy bounced back from their opening defeat to Belgium with a convincing 4-1 victory over Turkey in the UEFA Nations League on Monday, putting Roberto Mancini’s side back in contention in Group A1.

Italy dominated the first half in heavy rain in Bursa, taking a three-goal lead. Alessandro Bastoni opened the scoring after nine minutes before Davide Frattesi doubled the advantage in the 23rd minute.

Michael Kayode was also involved in Italy’s third, which further put the hosts under pressure.

Turkey pulled one goal back early in the second half and enjoyed an attacking spell, but failed to turn their pressure into further goals. Pio Esposito sealed Italy’s emphatic victory with a fourth goal.

The result marked a strong response from Mancini’s team after their opening loss to Belgium at home three days earlier.
