A mild heatwave is sweeping over several parts of the country, although rain is also likely in many areas over the next 24 hours, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
“A mild heatwave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Manikganj, Kishoreganj, Rajshahi, Sirajganj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Feni, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Satkhira, Khulna, Barishal and Patuakhali, and it may abate from some places,” the BMD said in a bulletin issued this morning.
The weather office forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Rain may also occur at a few places in Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions, the bulletin said.
Moderately heavy rainfall may occur at places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Day and night temperatures may fall slightly across the country.
The highest temperature recorded on Tuesday was 37.5°C in Feni, while today’s lowest temperature was 24°C in Bandarban.
In the 24 hours until 6am today, Bandarban recorded the highest rainfall at 42mm.
In Dhaka, the sun is expected to set at 6:01pm today and rise at 5:45am tomorrow.
