Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has ordered an update to the military target database to bring all visible and invisible assets of the United States and Israel within the reach of Iranian forces.
He has also instructed senior military commanders to respond immediately and effectively to any threat or attack by the enemy, without geographical restrictions.
According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Khamenei issued the directives during a meeting with military commanders.
He said that if the enemy launches another military or terrorist attack, Iran’s armed forces and people will determine when and how the conflict ends.
In a statement, Khamenei said a decision had been taken to update the country’s “target bank” to ensure that all visible and invisible US and Israeli assets remain within the reach of Iran’s armed forces.
However, the statement did not specify what types of facilities or assets would be included in the database.
During the meeting, Khamenei stressed the importance of maintaining “intelligent combat readiness” to ensure a strong response to adversaries, describing it as a key condition for achieving the highest level of deterrence.
He also called for strengthening Iran’s military intelligence and information systems, while emphasising the need to enhance domestic defence capabilities in military strategy and tactics.
The meeting also discussed modernising defence and security systems by using advanced technologies.
The directives indicate that Iran intends to strengthen not only its conventional military preparedness but also its intelligence gathering, target identification and technological capabilities ahead of any potential new confrontation.
The latest instructions came as Tehran has repeatedly warned that any fresh attack on Iran would trigger retaliation that would not necessarily be confined to Iranian territory.
The order to update the target database and authorise responses beyond geographical boundaries further underscores Tehran’s stated position.
