Police have arrested two people, including a teenager, and recovered four live crude bombs from a house in Dhaka in connection with a cocktail explosion outside the old Ramna Police Station.

The arrests were made during a raid in Nayatola Chairman Goli under Hatirjheel Police Station between 4:00am and 4:30am on Friday (October 30), following an analysis of CCTV footage from the scene.

The arrestees were identified as Zahidul Islam Monir, 20, and an unnamed teenager.

Police said the explosion took place outside the old Ramna Police Station on October 23. Investigators identified the suspects by analysing video footage as part of the investigation into the case.

Based on information obtained during interrogation, police recovered four live crude bombs from the house where the two were arrested.

A bomb disposal team later neutralised the explosives at Madhubagh field around 8:00am on Friday in the presence of police from Ramna and Hatirjheel police stations.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ramna Division) Sheikh Zahidul Islam confirmed the arrests and recovery.

He said the two suspects were in Ramna Police custody and further legal action was underway.
