BNP Secretary General and Local Government Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir fell ill while attending a Rath Yatra programme in the capital’s Swamibagh on Thursday noon, forcing him to leave the event before completing his speech.
Acting on doctors’ advice, he is now resting at home.
Confirming the matter, BNP media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan said Mirza Fakhrul suddenly felt unwell toward the end of his address at the inaugural ceremony of the Rath Yatra.
He was immediately taken home and advised to rest by physicians.
Despite the health scare, he is expected to attend the Cabinet meeting later in the afternoon.
