Police recovered 14 pipe bombs, bomb-making materials and several leaflets of the banned militant group Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) during a raid in Savar, Dhaka, and detained one person in connection with the incident, police said.

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and its Bomb Disposal Unit conducted the operation at a house in the Shyampur area of Tetuljhora Union on Tuesday night following a tip-off.

Police detained a 28-year-old man, identified as Arif Hossain, from Hemayetpur.

Five specially made pipe bombs were reportedly recovered from a bag he was carrying.

Based on information obtained from him, law enforcement later searched a room on the ground floor of a nearby house and recovered nine more pipe bombs along with bomb-making materials and JMB leaflets.

The investigation is continuing to determine the suspect’s alleged links to militant activities and whether the recovered explosives are connected to other recent incidents, police said.
