Police’s Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and local police have surrounded a four-storey building in the South Shyampur area of Savar, Dhaka, after several bombs and bomb-making materials were recovered.
The operation began around 7pm on Tuesday, August 11, based on information that suspected terrorists were staying inside the building. A bomb disposal unit is also at the scene.
Savar Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Alam said six bombs and a large quantity of bomb-making materials were recovered from the house.
He said several suspected terrorists were believed to be inside and that the operation was still underway.
Police cordoned off the area for security reasons and asked journalists and members of the public to stay away from the building.
Officials said further details would be available after the operation concludes.
