SAVAR: Police recovered the bodies of a man, his wife and their child from a rented house in Ashulia, Savar, early Saturday.

The identities of the deceased could not be immediately established.

The bodies were recovered from a house owned by one Hazrat Ali in the Middle Jamgora area of Ashulia after local residents alerted police to a foul smell coming from the couple’s room.

According to local residents, the man and woman had rented the house identifying themselves as husband and wife. The doors and windows of their room usually remained closed.

On Friday night, residents noticed a strong foul smell coming from the room and informed police.

Police later entered the house and recovered the bodies of the man, woman and their child. A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) forensic team also visited the scene in the early hours and collected evidence.

Ashulia Police Station Duty Officer Sub-Inspector Russell Hossain said police recovered the bodies following information from local residents.

“A foul smell was coming from the room. After receiving information from local people, police visited the scene and recovered the bodies,” he said.

He said the deceased included a husband, wife and their young child.

The police officer added that a gamcha was found wrapped around the man’s neck.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths and working to establish the identities of the deceased.
