DHAKA: Rainfall has started to decrease toward the end of autumn, with clear skies and mild winds in the mornings and afternoons signalling the arrival of late autumn.
However, the heat and humidity during the day continue to cause discomfort. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast some relief in temperatures and hinted at the formation of another low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal.
In its five-day weather forecast issued on Sunday evening, the Met Office said the monsoon was less active over Bangladesh and remained weak to moderate over the north Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area may form over the north-eastern Bay and adjoining areas within the next 48 hours.
For Monday, the forecast said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur at some places in Chattogram and Barishal divisions and at one or two places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna and Sylhet divisions. Some areas of Chattogram may also experience moderate to heavy rainfall.
Daytime temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country, while nighttime temperatures may fall slightly.
In Dhaka, temperatures are also expected to remain unchanged until noon, according to the Met Office. Its 7am forecast said the sky over Dhaka and adjoining areas may remain partly cloudy and the weather may stay dry until 1pm. Winds may blow from the west or southwest at 8–12 kilometres per hour.
The Met Office said the temperature in Dhaka was 27°C at 6am, with relative humidity at 83%.
