Malaysia’s Immigration Department (JIM) has detained 113 undocumented migrants, including 81 Bangladeshis, during a special joint operation at a high-rise building construction site in the Habu area of Pahang state.
The operation, which began at 2:00 pm on Thursday, involved the inspection of documents belonging to 145 foreign nationals. Authorities arrested 113 people for allegedly violating various immigration laws.
Among those detained were 81 Bangladeshis, 29 Indonesians, two Nepalis and one Myanmar national. The group comprised 107 men and six women.
According to the Immigration Department, legal action has been initiated against the detainees.
Of them, 61 are accused of staying in Malaysia without valid travel documents, 26 of overstaying their visas, one of violating another provision of the Immigration Act, and 27 of breaching immigration regulations.
All those arrested have been taken to the Pahang Immigration Department’s Enforcement Office for further investigation.
