Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday held bilateral talks with his Japanese counterpart, Sanae Takaichi, at the Japanese Prime Minister’s Office in Tokyo to strengthen relations and expand trade, investment and cooperation between the two countries.
The summit began at 11:40am local time at the Kantei, where Takaichi welcomed the Bangladesh prime minister with a ceremonial reception and a guard of honour.
The two leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations, trade and commercial ties, Japanese investment in Bangladesh, and cooperation in key sectors, including energy, agriculture, science and technology, and human resource development.
They are also scheduled to exchange views on regional and international issues.
The discussions are part of Tarique Rahman’s four-day official visit to Japan from October 26 to 29.
Following the talks, the two prime ministers are scheduled to make a joint press announcement, after which Takaichi will host a luncheon in honour of the Bangladesh premier.
The visit aims to deepen the strategic partnership between Bangladesh and Japan and create new opportunities for economic cooperation and investment.
